My name is Rebekah Rhodes and I am the photographer behind Ambervine Photography.
I have been very lucky in developing my photography into a career. Unlike most, I did not enjoy photography as a hobby. In fact, I stuck with disposable cameras so I wouldn't ruin the film, as I was known to do EVERY time.
While taking courses at the University of Maine, where I am now studying Photojournalism, I felt that I needed a class that would allow me to express my artistic abilities and learn how to successfully use a camera so I could upgrade from the Wal*Mart three dollar cameras.
I enrolled in a Black & White photography class and suprisingly I realized my potential talent. With images produced in the course I was hired later that semester as an intern at the Courier Gazette newspaper (now Village Soup). I spent the summer photographing and writing for the publication where I had more than 150 photographs published within three months. During the semester I was also hired as the Photo Editor for The Maine Campus newspaper.
I have since taken numerous photography courses and have been published in Portland Magazine, Penobscot Times and have interned at and been published in The Rising Nepal, a newspaper in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Ambervine Photography is my way of continuing to educate myself in the field of professional photography. I shoot in both more traditional style that comes from my fine art photography background as well as a photojournalistic style which is the result of my professional experiences.
